LG Releases Portable Printer for Tablets

LG Pocket PhotoAhead of the CES 2014 event in Las Vegas; LG has unveiled a new more portable printer model suitable for tablet users. This would enable users in the UK to print multiple 2 x 3 inch photographs directly from tablets. Measuring at only 7.2 x 12.1 x 2.0 cm; the LG Pocket Photo 2.0 is slimmer than the original model; which is 4mm thicker.

The device is clearly one of the more portable photo printing devices available for UK consumers. It is compatible for the Apple iPad and multiple Android tablet models; with support for wireless connection via Bluetooth and NFC. Printed objects are rendered at about 313dpi (dots per inch) and the device employs the ZINK technology; which is based on heat implementation to activate any colour-forming chemical already available on the paper.

This should eliminate the need for standard ink cartridges. The Pocket Photo app could be installed on tablets to provide a set of filter effects and editing features. It is also possible to embed QR in photographs, so that users can quickly bring up digital versions on the tablets.

There are yellow, white and pink versions of the Pocket Photo 2.0. The printer is currently available in China and LG will roll it out globally; including to the United Kingdom in 2014.
