Sharp’s new oversized 15.6-inch tablet will be based on the IGZO 3K (3200 x 1800) panel and it would be as large as standard laptop display. The Sharp RW-16G1 is equipped with Intel Core i5 dual-core ULV processor clocked at 1.6GHz. The more efficient energy usages would ensure reasonable battery life with moderate usages.
Also, the 4GB of system memory shouldn’t give us any kind of headache when running multiple PC software on the full-fledged Windows 8.1 platform. Overall, its performance should be at the same level with the smaller Surface Pro 2. The main storage unit is a 128GB SSD; although relatively limited for a Windows 8.1 machine; it should be acceptable because the tablet is not intended for use as real laptop.
On the sides, there are three USB 3.0 ports and a 4K-capable HDMI port. Despite the size, the RW-16G1 should fit nicely inside a common laptop bag and it is slim enough to leave some room for files and papers.
The device will compete directly against the Panasonic ToughPad UT-MB50, a 20-inch tablet with Ultra HD 4K screen resolution. It’s an extravagantly expensive tablet at about $6000 and £3690; but the Sharp RW-16G1 should be cheaper for UK consumers.
