Apple Will Soon Stop Selling the iPad 2 in the UK

Apple iPad 2Apple released the 2nd generation iPad about three years ago, which sports non-Retina display and A5 dual-core processor. However, the popular tablet will soon see its demise as is expected to discontinue it eventually. The report comes from AppleInsider, one of reliable Apple-related source. Given customers current shift towards capable, newer iPad, such as the iPad Air and Retina iPad Mini; Apple will soon ramp down the iPad 2’s production.

Apple lowered the price of iPad 2 to only £399 after it unveiled the Retina 3rd generation iPad. Clearly, the iPad 2 is now less appealing to users, because the Retina iPad Mini is available at cheaper price. Even after Apple released the 5th generation model, the iPad Air, Apple still designated the iPad 2 a legacy product.

Actually, this isn’t the first time we heard about iPad 2’s possible discontinuation, because Ming-Chi Kuo already hinted it. In November last year, he said that Apple planned to ship only 300,000 iPad 2 in Q1 2013. This suggests that the tablet is near its end-of-life.

The iPad 2 represented a significant redesign when Apple launched it three years ago. It came with the FaceTime webcam, magnetic Smart Cover and white chassis option.
