Three million tablets have been sold this holiday season in the United Kingdom and this leaves many retail stores out of stock. Weeks before Christmas; retailers including Aldi, Argos and Dixons have launched new models to challenge the dominance of Google Nexus, Apple iPad and more recently, Tesco Hudl. Even Argos no longer has the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 16GB in its inventory.
This situation has caused UK consumers to express their frustration in social media websites and online forums. However, retailers still assure that some models are still available and it would be a good idea for users to get themselves updated to recent news in the local market.
Despite being somewhat more expensive than other models, the Apple iPad and iPad Mini still top the sales chart; but the company is facing some stiff competition.
Other than the iPad, Amazon’s new tablet; the Kindle Fire HDX is also a favorite model. Smaller than the Apple iPad Mini, the HDX offers higher screen resolution, longer battery life and less weight. Due to the powerful hardware specs; users shouldn’t be hampered by any kind of lag while running videos and playing games. However, the heavily-modified Android OS could disappoint users; since they can’t freely download and sideload apps.
