Foxconn has manufactured the first Firefox OS tablet for Mozilla and the prototypes are still being used for test purposes. Other than the type of software used, we know little else about the tablet; but it seems to be equipped with 10-inch (1280 x 800) display, 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM and WiFi.
It is not known when the Firefox OS tablet will be available in the market, but the project is already well underway. We could still be hopeful to see tablet released in the market on Q3 2014. Availability in the UK should follow immediately after the initial release date.
Mozilla and its Firefox OS devices don’t make headlines too frequently, but rest assured the company is working hard to develop its devices. In fact, some details of the tablet could be unveiled during the MWC 2014 event. Mozilla is hoping that Firefox OS tablet will be interesting enough to penetrate the highly competitive market and grab some market share.
Foxconn is also a major player in the mobile industry and it is the company that ensures the success of Apple, Nokia, Panasonic, Dell and others. Apparently, Mozilla has been included in the list and the Firefox OS-based reference tablet that the company builds should appeal more than a few consumers in the market.
