The Lenovo ThinkPad 8 is a low-cost Windows 8 tablet with Intel Bay Trail processor. It has good support for docking stations and external displays, as well as option for larger internal storage and better display. At £379 for the 32GB variant, the ThinkPad could be somewhat pricier than the competition; but still quite affordable for an 8-inch Windows 8 model. The 64GB version of ThinkPad 8 is available for £430.
The Lenovo ThinkPad 8 has 8.3-inch (1920 x 1200) display with really slim screen bezel. Other features are 2GB of RAM, Bluetooth 4.0, microHDMI, microUSB, microSD slot and WiFi 802.11m. Its 20.5 Whr battery is adequate for providing about 8 hours of runtime. Consumers could purchase a magnetic cover, which can be closed to turn off the display. The camera app is fired up automatically when users lift the corner that covers the rear-facing camera.
The tablet is quite ideal for daily handheld use and it’s not really a desktop replacement, despite the use of full-fledged Windows 8 OS. Even with mouse and physical keyboard, users would eventually find the experience rather painful due to the small display size. Anything smaller than 10.1-inch should be held closer to our eyes, instead of used as a laptop.
