Archos Unveils Three New Archos Tablet Models

Archos TabletsArchos recently unveiled a plan for new low-cost budget lineup, the 101 Neon, 97 Neon and 90 Neon. Hardware-wise, these tablets are nearly identical and the most visible difference is display size. The Archos 101 Neon has 10.1-inch (1024 x 600) display, which is equal to 117ppi of pixel density. The 97 Neon is a cheap alternative to the Apple iPad with its 9.7-inch (1024 x 768) display or equal to 131ppi of pixel density. The 90 Neon has 9-inch (800 x 480) display, which offers ridiculously low pixel density of 103ppi.

The 97 Neon runs 1.6GHz MediaTek Cortex A9 processor; while the 101 Neon and 90 Neon are powered by 1.4GHz MediaTek Cortex A9. The 101 Neon and 90 Neon come with only front-facing camera; while the 97 Neon is equipped with rear and front cameras.

These three tablets will run Jelly Bean Android 4.2 operating system and will have a complete set of standard Google apps. Release dates and pricing of Neon models are yet to be unveiled.

The France-based Archos is typically seen as a champion of affordable Android Tablets that have reasonable hardware configuration for the price. The company regularly updates its tablet lineup, although some of the models may look a bit dated according to today’s standard.
